May I take this opportunity to remind you of our Sixth Form Induction which is to be held on Tuesday 9th July to Friday 12th July, inclusive.  Please report to our Main Reception at 8.30am, from where you will be directed to the Sixth Form Study Centre to meet other students and Sixth Form staff and be issued your timetable and Sixth Form Information Booklet.  Please bring stationary/equipment required to engage in each of your subjects. Throughout the induction you will attend 3 lessons for each of your subjects as well as a variety of workshops, silent study, presentations and activities designed to familiarise yourself with the demands of A Level study as well as life at The Math. Please note the end of the school day is 3.10pm, although on Wednesday, 10th July you are permitted Home Study from the start of lunch, being 1.20pm. For lunch you may buy a meal from our Sixth Form café (cash and card accepted) bring your own, or sign out and visit the local shops.

Dress for this week should be smart Please note in particular that the school does not permit the wearing of jewellery, other than a wrist watch and for students intending to wear a skirt, it should be knee length and not figure-hugging (bodycon).

If you have any problems regarding attendance for the 4 days and have not yet contacted us, or no longer wish to study at the Math/have changed your mind regarding your A Level subject choices, please contact us via sixthform@sjwms.org.uk as soon as possible.

Induction is a valuable chance to collect useful information, meet with potential fellow students, get a feel for life at the Math and raise any queries that you may have.  More importantly, it is an opportunity to reflect carefully on your choice of subjects and ensure you are making the correct decision regarding your post-16 education.

Current Year 11 Students

You are required to attend the Main Hall on Tuesday 9th July at 8.30am and take your seat where you will be addressed by Mr Heather who will explain the book return process.  Please ensure you bring all of your GCSE books and resources with you, including any library books and any outstanding library fines.  Failure to hand books back to your subject teacher may lead to a cost for reimbursement.  You must wear full school uniform.

Throughout the induction you will attend 3 lessons for each of your subjects as well as a variety of workshops, silent study, presentations and activities designed to familiarise you with the demands of A Level study as well as life in our Sixth Form. Please note on Wednesday, 10th July you are permitted home study from the start of lunch, at 1.20pm. Please ensure you have your stationary and other such equipment with you to take a full part in all lessons.

We encourage you to make the most of the induction which is a compulsory event. The experience will give you a good insight into the rigours of A level study and help you decide if you have made the correct A Level choices to support your enjoyment of learning and your lifelong ambitions.
